DASD provides educational services for students ages three to twenty-one identified as having a need for special education. Individualized programs for children with disabilities are offered to meet their educational needs. About 420, or 10.8%, of DASD student receive special education services.

Early Childhood
Early Childhood Special Education (Part B of IDEA - Individuals with Disabilities Act) provides special education services for children from age 3 through 5 years of age who qualify according to state and federal law at no cost to families. Preschoolers may be found eligible for Early Childhood Special Education services under one or more disability areas, which are defined in the federal and state regulations.
Special Education-Students 6-21
Special Education for students ages 6-21 (Part B of IDEA - Individuals with Disabilities Act) provides special education services for students from ages 6 through 21 years of age who qualify according to state and federal law at no cost to families. Students may be found eligible for Special Education services under one or more disability areas, which are defined in the federal and state regulations.
