| Nutrition and learning go hand in hand. Children who have proper nutrition have more energy and stamina to learn at school. Studies have found that students who do not have adequate nutrition are more likely to have behavior problems, lower grades, and a higher rate of absenteeism. The DeForest Area School District offers lunch each day for all full-day students. In addition to lunch, breakfast is offered at all schools as well. Meals offered at school meet the USDA Dietary Guidelines and provide the proper nutrition for students to fully achieve at school. In addition to full meals, students in kindergarten through 5th grade are given a milk break each day. At the middle school and high school a vending machine filled with healthy snacks and milk is always available for students to make cash purchases from. Meal and milk purchases are made through a Family Account System. Cash or tickets are not collected in the lunch lines. Accounts are set-up by family. Students with siblings anywhere in the district will use the same account. This allows families to send just one payment for all students. In addition, you will be able to check your balance and receive detailed information for each student with just one phone call (842-6512) or online through Skyward Family Access. Payments can be made online through Skyward Family Access, by cash or by check. Please make checks out to DeForest Area School District. Payments can be brought in or mailed to: DeForest Area School District Attn: Food & Nutrition Services 520 E. Holum St DeForest, WI 53532 Any questions about refunds?
