Teacher Information Students will be exploring why books have been banned in the past and why it is important to have the freedom to choose what is read. Learners This lesson was designed for 12th grade language arts, and involves social studies to a lesser extent. Prior to beginning this lesson, students will need to know the elements of persuasive writing as well as the technique of writing a letter and understanding audience and purpose. They also need to examine newspaper design and layout.
