How can I connect to the wireless network?
- If you're a staff member, you'll use your network account and a few security settings. Here are some quick directions.
- If you're a student or a visitor, feel free to use our DeForest-Guest or DASD-Guest network. Here are some quick directions for accessing that network.
- If you're a DAHS student with a 1:1 device, you'll use DHS-Students to connect. Use Use your network login (username + password) to login. No "@deforestschools.org" is required.
Chrome is really slow.
- Chrome can hog resources if it isn't closed from time to time. Think of it as waxy build-up or dust in your home. You need to remove the wax or dust to keep things clean and working properly, right? Same with Chrome. You need to close it from time to time . . . the more tabs and windows you have open, the more resources it robs from your computer.
- You can use this extension to monitor how much memory Chrome is gobbling up.
Chrome is doing strange things. Resetting Chrome can fix many problems.
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click More Settings.
- At the bottom, click Advanced.
- Chromebook, Linux, and Mac: Under "Reset Settings," click Restore settings to their original defaults Reset Settings.
- Windows: Under "Reset and cleanup,” click Reset Settings Reset Settings.
What's my password for the Tech Request system?
- This one is easy. Use the same username and password you use for wireless and the network.
I can't install software.
- As a security precaution, only a few people have the rights to install software on computers. (You have rights on your mobile devices.)
- Updates to plugins, like Flash or Java, are sent out as they become available.
- If you find something is missing, please enter a request and let us know. Most software can be sent out or installed remotely, so you may not see LISD staff.
- To be sure that your machine receives updates, please leave it on. A machine that's turned off doesn't receive updates or they may be delayed.
I need a web site unblocked.

- BUT it is a good idea to restart your Windows computer regularly. Make it a habit once a week to restart--that can fix many issues, like a missing printer or slow browser.
The sound on my projector isn't working.
