The start of the school year can be stressful with this year probably tipping that scale for you! When we are stressed, worried, anxious we often are not quite ourselves. Maybe you put your own needs on the back burner? Maybe you find yourself not being as patient or understanding of others may that be colleagues, family, parents, or students. If you would like to learn how to have more compassion resilience for yourself and others and learn ways to build better relationships check out the short video below describing the Compassion Resilience PDC starting on October 7. This opportunity is open to all DASD staff . Will meet online 1-2 times a month throughout the year for an hour. Contact Stefanie Muller to learn more. In this course you will learn:
- Resilience strategies that can be used to increase ability to work more effectively with students and families impacted by stress, loss, and trauma.
- Impact of stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue on the education environment; and in relationships with colleagues and others
- How to identify signs and syptoms of compassion fatigue
- Concrete steps for developing a professional self-care plan.

The Rooted Family is an employee wellness program designed to help people learn how their brain works. "When you know how your brain works, you can use it to your advantage when it comes to dealing with stress and everyday obstacles - something all school employees have experience with." The Rooted Family uses mindful self-awareness to tackle stress management, resilience building and overall mental well being.
Access to this program was donated by a local business, Complete Mobile Dentistry based in Windsor. Registrations are limited to the first 130 participants.
