High School Summer School Credit Recovery
The DeForest Area School District will be offering high school summer school in the English, Math, Science, and Social Studies departments.
The high school summer credit recovery program will provide students with structured time to relearn the content from a failed class and allow them to either earn a ½ credit per class towards high school graduation.
The summer school program will operate from Monday, June 20 - Friday, July 29. There will be no class on Monday, July 4 & Tuesday, July 5. Sessions will run from 8:20-9:50 am and 10:10-11:40 am.
Students will work on specific areas of need identified by the course teacher. Qualifying courses that students may have failed for a semester are:
- English: English 9, English 10
- Math: Algebra 1, Geometry
- Science: Physical Science, Biology
- Social Studies: World History 9, US History 10
Students must complete the assigned work with a passing grade in order to earn credit for the course.
Students will be required to work on the coursework until it has all been completed successfully. Students will no longer have to attend summer school once the required coursework is completed.
Students with two failing semester grades in two separate classes may sign up for a second session.
Please keep in mind that if a student fails both semesters of a single class, they will not have enough time to complete the remediation, and must retake the class during the regular school year.
