DASD students perform with State Middle Level Honors Band

DAHS freshmen Sarah Stouffer-Lerch and Jacob Chambers  performed with the State Middle Level Honors  Band on Saturday, October 31 at Waunakee High School.  Both students auditioned as 8th graders.

DAHS band awarded Madison Jazz Society grant

DAHS Band Program awarded a grant for $325 to underwrite the jazz band’s participation in the Slinger Jazz Festival. In November, the Madison Jazz Society awarded grants totaling $4,950 from its School Grant Fund to music programs in sixteen Wisconsin schools.  The grants are funding jazz centered programs designed to help students learn about and perform jazz.

DAHS to host Thai students

DeForest Area High School will be hosting five students and their teacher April 16-May 4 as part of the Thai Sunrise Program sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Applications to become a host family can be requested at the main office of the high school, through Dr. Borden, District Administrator (842-6577), or online.  One of the single most critical parts to this program is having host families that are willing to share their lives with foreign exchange students for the three weeks.  It is a Norski Nation experience that will change their lives and ours.
