Community Indoor Walking Program
DASD offers an indoor walking opportunity to community members November through April. To access this program, community members must complete the Community Indoor DASD Walking Program Release & Waiver form, complete a DASD volunteer application & background check, and pay a $10 fee to obtain a DASD walking badge. The Norski Sharing Shed is a community-driven initiative designed to ensure every student in the DeForest Area School District has the essential items they need to thrive.
While school social workers keep immediate supplies on hand, the incredible generosity of our community - and the growing needs of our families - inspired the creation of this dedicated central resource. Thanks to a partnership with our area churches including donated classroom space for this project from Christ Lutheran Church, we now have a centralized "overflow" inventory to better serve our students.
How It Works
Centralized Resource: The Norski Sharing Shed houses a wide variety of essential items in a locked, secure space at Christ Lutheran Church.
Staff Access: DASD social workers can access the Norski Sharing Shed at any time to retrieve specific items for students in need.
Sustainable Support: To keep the shelves full, the district organizes quarterly donation drives focused on high-priority items.
How You Can Help
The success of the Norski Sharing Shed depends on the continued partnership between the school district, our area churches, and the local community. There are several ways to get involved:
Donate Most Needed Items:
Ankle socks (black or white)
Sweatpants & leggings (adult medium or large)
Toiletries - shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, body wash, toothpaste, etc.
Laundry detergent
Gift cards ($20 increments)

The DeForest Area School District primarily serves the rural-suburban communities of DeForest and Windsor, along with portions of seven other municipalities in a 100-square-mile area: Bristol, Burke, Hampden, Leeds, Vienna, and portions of Madison and Sun Prairie.
