Employees will be responsible for half of all required contributions to the WRS - currently 6.95% of covered earnings. District pays the Matching Employer Contribution. (Not paid for teachers hired for only one year). This program is administered through the Department of Employee Trust Funds. Contribution rates may change effective January 2026. Eligible employees are automatically enrolled.
TAX SHELTERED ANNUITY & WI DEFERRED COMPENSATION:
Employees of the DeForest Area School District are able to participate in one or both of the voluntary retirement savings Plans. Both the Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA) - 403(b) and Wisconsin Deferred Compensation Program (WDC) - 457 are voluntary supplemental retirement savings plans. Both plans offer a pre-tax and after-tax (ROTH) option. Participation in one or both of these Plans will not replace or reduce your Wisconsin Retirement System benefits. These plans allow eligible employees to save and invest through voluntary salary deferrals, to add to any existing retirement/pension benefits. TSA/WDC Comparison Chart
